New chapter in JCPOA revival opened: President Rouhani
Tehran (ISNA) - "Today we are witnessing a new chapter in the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and all the countries that were committed to the JCPOA have gathered in Vienna," said Iran’s President, adding, "They have come to the conclusion that there is no better solution than the JCPOA and there is no other way but the full implementation of the deal, and this is a great success for Iran”.
Speaking on Wednesday at the cabinet meeting, President Hassan Rouhani added, "One of the achievements of this government is that in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 and the beginning of 2021, with all the hardships and pressures of economic war and the most severe sanctions, managed the country in a way that not only our friends, but also our enemies admit that the maximum pressure has failed”.
Emphasizing that this success was due to the resistance of the people and the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, Dr. Rouhani said, "During this three-year economic war, the government refused the advice of some friends to establish a coupon system to provide public goods, and stressed that we can run the country normally and provide goods as much as the country needs and in abundance”.
The President said that today, no one doubts that the enemy’s path of maximum pressure and sanctions has failed, adding, "If it were not for people’s resistance and the endurance of hardships by them, we would have had different conditions today”.
“Despite all the pressure, the enemy could not break our economy, and today they explicitly say that their actions have failed and that they have no choice but to negotiate,” said Rouhani.
Dr. Rouhani considered this success as belonging to the Iranian nation and stressed that we should not underestimate this glorious victory, adding, "For the first time in history, the United States is the most isolated government in the United Nations, the Security Council, world public opinion, and The Hague, and even their traditional European allies have left them alone”.
The President stated, "This great victory was achieved thanks to the support and resistance of the people and the guidance of the Supreme Leader, and we should not be indifferent to it. Why don't those who make films with people's money make a film for this defeat of the United States and the victory of the Iranian nation”?
