Shia Muslims throughout the world commemorate the martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson Hussein(as) at the Battle of Karbala.
In keeping with the nature of these processions mourners usually use drums as a symbol of Muharram mourning and perform poetic recitations wih the beat of drums.
