Conner Kent

Conner Kent

Conner Kent was born in a test tube, not a womb. He's a genetic hybrid created in a laboratory by a villainous scientist named Paul Westfield, working with DNA stolen from two of the most powerful beings on Earth: Superman and Lex Luthor. The goal was to create a living weapon, a replacement Superman that could be controlled. But Conner woke up early, broke out of the lab, and had no idea who he was supposed to be. Half Kryptonian god, half human genius-level ego. He named himself after Superman's adoptive parents (the Kents) and took the hero name Superboy, but for a long time, he wasn't sure if he was a hero, a weapon, or just a mistake.

His early days were rough. Conner looked about sixteen but was only weeks old mentally — he had all of Superman's powers (strength, flight, invulnerability) but not the heat vision or freeze breath. More importantly, he had Luthor's arrogance and Superman's heart, and those two things fought constantly. He was cocky, loud-mouthed, obsessed with looking cool (leather jacket, sunglasses, earring), and desperate for approval — especially from Superman, who wanted nothing to do with him at first. Superman saw Conner as a reminder of Luthor and kept his distance. That rejection shaped everything Conner became.

Conner found his family elsewhere: the Teen Titans. He befriended Tim Drake (Robin), Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl), and Bart Allen (Impulse). They didn't care that he was a clone or that Superman wouldn't claim him. They gave him a home. Over time, Conner grew from a brash punk into a genuine hero. He died once — heroically, stopping a Superboy-Prime from destroying reality — and was mourned by the entire superhero community. When he came back to life (comics, right?), he was more mature, more grounded, though he never lost his edge. He still wears the leather jacket. He still makes dumb jokes. But underneath the swagger is someone who spent his whole existence asking, "Am I a real person?" And the answer he found was yes — not because of whose DNA he had, but because of the choices he made.
